CT Scan and Molds
I had my second to last appointment prior to surgery today and it was approximately 2 hours long. I had to get a CT scan taken of my jaw and molds taken of my upper and lower teeth. They had to redo the top mold three times and the bottom mold twice.....it was painful and exhausting, but we made it! Plaster is all over me and my clothes, but I am accepting it as part of the jaw surgery package deal.
Surgery Updates:1. I have to get a COVID test the day before my surgery
2. No family member or friend is allowed with me at the hospital before, during, or after surgery. (It will be a lonely night at the hospital)
3. Week 1= liquids, Week 2= soft foods (i.e. eggs)
4. My mouth will not be wired shut at any point
5. I will have a clear splint wired to my upper teeth for 4-6 weeks (this was a new fun fact for me today)
I was also given a lovely book today on recipes for after surgery. Fun is just around the corner!
I also wanted to add to my post today, that I am posting my blog this week and it is not to take away from any and all of the events and issues happening in our community, country, and world. My jaw surgery journey has not blinded me from seeing the injustice in the world, and I am grateful that I am able to be an advocate during these times.
Sorry you have to have surgery and hope outcome is perfect. Jim, my husband, had to have a Covid-19 test prior to his surgery today and the good thing about it is that it takes two seconds! Wishing you a rapid recovery and success.
